Jocelyn Pettit

Ready for the Storm is my second collaboration with Jocelyn Pettit. In 2022, I worked on the title track music video for Jocelyn’s third album, Wind Rose.

Jocelyn had a clear vision of featuring the raw and unyielding beauty of the Pacific coast of Vancouver Island, particularly during stormy winter days. To bring her idea to life, we embarked on a thrilling adventure, capturing the main sequence on the Wild Pacific Trail of Ucluelet, a location that perfectly exemplifies the sheer power of the ocean. The goal was to intersect the playing sequence with the stunning seascapes of Vancouver Island, creating a seamless blend between the two.

To capture the essence of the coast, I spent several days between December and February, travelling from Tofino to Ucluelet and further south between Port Renfrew and Sooke. This journey allowed us to explore the wild and rugged terrain and capture the coast in all its glory. During filming, we braved the elements, capturing the blazing winds and crashing waves that define the region.

Ready for the Storm is a mesmerizing creation that follows the path of a passing storm. As we progress through the lyrics, the storm gradually subsides, and the sun emerges, casting a warm and soothing light over the coast, bringing a sense of calm and tranquillity to the once tumultuous waters. The video captures the beauty of the Pacific coast of Vancouver Island, showcasing its raw, untamed power and highlighting the resilience of the people who call it home.
